Passing fake money sends woman to prison

ST. LOUIS, MO. (AP) -- The following is a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in St. Louis, Missouri;

The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Sabrina Renee Inlow was sentenced to 18 months in prison for passing counterfeit $20 and $10 dollar bills in Hannibal and Bowling Green, MO.

According to court documents, on August 6, 2009, Ronald Olivier passed a counterfeit $20 bill at a Dairy Queen in Bowling Green, MO. He was arrested by Bowling Green police officers. A subsequent investigation revealed that Olivier had been in a vehicle being driven by another man. Police discovered that the vehicle had been towed in Hannibal and had been associated with an earlier robbery. Hannibal police stopped the same vehicle later that day. Bobby Ray Waters was driving, and Sabrina Parks a/k/a Sabrina Inlow was a passenger. The police found evidence of the counterfeiting activity in the car, including a scanner, a printer and a “parent” $20 bill which had been used to make counterfeit money.

Sabrina Renee Inlow, a/k/a Sabrina Parks, 27, Hannibal, MO, was sentenced by United States Judge Donald J. Stohr.

Co-defendant Bobby Ray Waters, 31, Hannibal, MO; pleaded guilty last October was sentenced to one year and one day January 22, 2010. Ronald E. Olivier, 41, Springfield, IL, previously pleaded guilty in October and awaits sentencing on February 19.

All three defendants pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to make and pass counterfeit currency. Olivier also pleaded to an additional count of passing counterfeit currency.

The conspiracy charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or fines up to five years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000; each count of passing counterfeit currency carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and/or fines up to $250,000.

This case was investigated by the United States Secret Service, and the Hannibal and Bowling Green Police Departments Assistant United States Attorney James E. Crowe, Jr, is handling the case for the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
