HANNIBAL, MO. -- A Hannibal woman faces charges of first degree assault after an argument inside a car.

The Hannibal Police Department says Denise Holman and a passenger in her car got into an argument while they were driving on Mark Twain Avenue late Monday afternoon.

Holman told her passenger to get out and walk.

The passenger did and Holman tried to hit her with the car.

She missed the first time and did a u-turn on Mark Twain Avenue near Grand Avenue.

Holman then came back at the woman, crossed over two lanes of oncoming traffic and struck the pedestrian causing major damage to the car.

Witnesses to the incident led police to Holman who was found at an apartment on Centerville Road.

The victim was treated at Hannibal Regional Hospital while Holman was taken to the Marion County Jail in Palmyra.
