Company donates food and money to Haiti

MT. STERLING, IL. -- A major food distributor in the Tri-States is on a mission to feed those in need in Haiti.

Dot Foods has donated food for several years to Haiti, but after January's earthquake, the company stepped up its efforts. The company teamed up with a non-profit group called Food For The Poor.

Dot Foods will donate four truck loads or $160,000 dollars.

In addition, the company got ten truck load donations from its suppliers and $50,000 dollars from its employees.  Dot Foods also matched its employees contributions dollar-for-dollar.

"It's part of our culture and it's something our employees are very strongly interested in. Whenever there's a disaster that occurs, the first thing we hear from our employees is what can we do to help," said Jim Tracy, Senior V.P. of Dot Foods.
