QUINCY, IL -- The national Tea Party movement is on the move to raise money for candidates who support its mission.

The movement has created what it calls the "Ensuring Liberty Political Action Committee" or ELPAC.

Six members lead that effort, including two from Quincy.

Local Tea Party organizers Steve McQueen and Brad Ehmen will serve on that committee.

The other members are from Memphis, California and St. Louis.

KHQA's Rajah Maples asked the men how two Quincy residents were chosen for the job.

McQueen said, "I think the Quincy Tea Party has a reputation as one of the most successful in the country.

Ehmen said, "I think the time for carrying signs and protesting is fine but now it's time to affect elections"

McQueen said the committee's goal is to raise $10 million to support campaigns for 15 to 20 congressional candidates who support the organization's principles.

He says those principles are fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, less government, state's rights and national security.
