SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- Illinois officials say consumers have received more than $500,000 over three weeks through a state appliance rebate program.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity says the Illinois Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program also has generated more than $2 million in water heater sales.

State officials say the water heater portion of the program ended Sunday.

The department says consumers received a 25 % rebate on Energy Star water heaters.

Heating and cooling equipment rebates are still available and officials say they will last until funding runs out.

From April 16 to 25, consumers can receive a 15% rebate when they buy energy-efficient appliances at participating retailers.
