GRIGGSVILLE, ILL. -- A school in the Tri-States is getting national recognition.

Griggsville-Perry High School was named one of America's best by U.S.News and World Report. The magazine worked with school evaluation services to review more than 21,000 public high schools across the country.

The school was judged in its college readiness performance, and math and reading skills.  The school's principal credits two teachers in the classroom to help reach this achievement.

"Of course it makes us feel good. We have worked really hard because we do come from a rural area that has a lot of economically disadvantaged students. We've worked on building those relationships with our students to want to be here," said school principal Keppen Clanton.

The school will get a bronze medal for its achievements.  School principal Keppen Clanton says expectations will be high next year.  Next, the school will focus on increasing math and reading scores.

It also has a freshmen academy. That helps new high school students with the transition.
