Believe it or not...just 56 days into the new year, you've already made enough money to pay for groceries for the entire year.

That's the message today from the Adams County Farm Bureau and FFA students during the annual Food Check-Out day at County Market in Quincy.

They also reminded shoppers of the cost benefits of eating healthy.

It's sometimes hard to find fresh fruits and veggies on sale out of season, but the key is avoiding super-processed foods like microwave dinners.

They're cheaper to make at home, and are more nutritious.

By the way, on average, americans spend less than 10 percent of their income on food. That's a good deal, especially when you consider farmers only receive 19 cents on every food dollar you spend. The rest comes from things like marketing, packaging and transportation.
