QUINCY, IL -- Hospital security is always a concern when it comes to newborns and their families.
Blessing Hospital has taken measures over the past several years to make sure everyone is safe.
Monday, Blessing installed its newest security measure when you enter the post partum wing.
It's an intercom system with video monitor.
Once you get off the elevator you head over the to locked doors, press the button, the nurse will ask why you want to go through.
Once given the okay to come in, the doors will automatically unlock.
The security system has only been on place since Monday, but patience response has been good.
Other security measures have been in place already that helps parents relax.
For the past two years infants have been secure with electronic bracelets they wear around their ankles and video monitor by the elevator.
If they go out of a certain area an alarm goes off.
By the end of the year the hospital hopes to have the security doors up for the delivery area of the wing as well.
