QUINCY, ILL. -- UPDATED: January 6
22-year-old Codie Minter has been senteced to 8 and a half years in jail for pleading guilty to the charge of beating his 6-week-old son.
Minter pled guilty and was sentenced Friday by Judge Scott Walden.
The Quincy Journal reports that "Adams County State's Attorney Jon Barnard said Minter will serve at least 85 percent of his sentence, which is a class X felony, in the Illinois Department of Corrections."

A 22-year-old Quincy man is in jail facing charges of aggravated battery to a child.
Codie Minter was indicted by an Adams County Grand Jury last month and was arrested on Thursday.
It was back in January a six week old baby was brought to Blessing Hospital for the treatment of a broken arm.
Further tests at Blessing Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital revealed at least 20 broken bones in various stages of healing.
The Quincy Police Department says Minter is related to the baby.
He's in jail on a $100 thousand dollar bond.
