CHICAGO, ILL. (AP) -- State Senator Bill Brady has officially won the Republican nomination for Illinois governor.
By a mere 193-vote margin, the State Board of Elections declared Brady the winner today - more than a month after voters cast their ballots.
Brady learned about the board's action while doing an interview on The Cisco Cotto Show on WLS Radio. He told WLS that he's glad the results are official and that he's "looking forward to what (Dillard) decides to do."
Sen. Kirk Dillard is conceding defeat in the Republican primary for Illinois governor. In a news release Friday, Dillard said it was a close race but that Brady ended up the winner. Dillard says he'll do whatever he can to help Brady defeat Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn in November.
Previously Dillard said he wouldn't ask for a recount unless the margin was within roughly 100 votes.
