MONTICELLO, MO. -- Missouri is one step closer to tracking pseudoephedrine use.
Governor Jay Nixon announced a new high tech tool to fight methamphetamine.
In the next three months, Missouri will have a state database to track the purchases of pseudoephedrine products.
This new system will deny the sale to the buyer if their purchase for the month exceeds 120 tablets.
Law enforcement officers will have access to this database from their computers at work.
Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish says meth is not just a drug issue is a community issue.
He says this new database is something law enforcement official are really going to be excited about.
Pseudoephedrine is needed in order to make meth, so they hope this new system will really cut down on the number of people manufacturing it.
