MARION COUNTY, MO. -- UPDATE, 11:00 p.m., Thursday, March 10:
A mistrial has been declared in the trial of former Marion County sheriff's deputy Larry Uhlmeyer.
Brent Engel with the Hannibal Courier-Post reports the jury was deadlocked.
Uhlmeyer was on trial for the 2007 shooting of James Rudd.
The incident took place during a confrontation in the garage of Uhlmeyer's home along Highway 6 in Taylor.
Rudd's injuries left him paralyzed from the neck down.
A hearing date has been set for April 7, 2010 to pick a date for a new jury trial.

There are some dramatic developments this morning in the trial of former Marion County sheriff's deputy Larry Uhlmeyer.
Brent Engel with the Hannibal Courier-Post reports the jury has taken two votes, and remains deadlocked.
The judge has given additional instructions, urging the jury to make "every reasonable effort" to reach a verdict.
If the jury remains deadlocked after further deliberations, a mistrial could be declared.
