DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) -- A panel of budget forecasters expects Iowa's tax revenue to be flat for the next few months but rise a bit in the next fiscal year.

The three-member Revenue Estimating Conference issued its report Thursday, predicting the state would collect $5.25 billion in the current fiscal year. That's about the same level as the panel predicted last December.

Forecasters expects revenue to grow to $5.44 billion in the fiscal year beginning July 1. That's the budget being crafted by lawmakers now.

Legislators must use the estimate as the basis for the budget.

The estimate includes tax revenue and lottery proceeds.
