CHICAGO, ILL. (AP) -- The FBI interviewed Chicago Mayor Richard Daley in 2008 about politicians who supported a real estate project that's now part of a trial in federal court.
Chicago Law Department spokeswoman Jennifer Hoyle says the mayor cooperated with the investigators and there's no indication Daley was "anything other than a witness."
The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday that Daley was interviewed at a downtown Chicago hotel.
The federal investigation brought charges against former Alderman Isaac Carothers and developer Calvin Boender (BUN'-der).
Boender is now on trial, and Carothers pleaded guilty.
Daley had been subpoenaed to testify as a defense witness at Boender's trial. But defense attorneys now say the mayor won't be called.
