QUINCY, ILL. -- The Smith Hall Coffee Shop on the campus of the Illinois Veterans Home has seen a big increase in customers.

Several weeks ago a new owner took over the shop.

Business Enterprise Program for the Blind had been running the shop for about a year, but was not seeing enough business and wanted out.

Jack Miller is now the owner.

He and five other employees are running the shop.

He says he has changed the menu and the hours of operation which has led to more business.

"I do know our customer count has almost tripled over the previous people because of the menu change and the hour change," said Miller.

The coffee shop is open to the public and is now open from 7 AM to 8 PM Wednesday through Saturday, and until 3 PM on Sunday.
