City doesn't want to hear the word "flood"
HANNIBAL, MO. -- With the treat of spring flooding still very much alive in the tri-states, Hannibal has a five letter "F" word no one wants to hear...flood.
The Hannibal Visitors and Convention Bureau has already put up a new slogan of sorts on its website, "In Hannibal, we don't say the F word."
The Bureau wants everyone to know the flood is not and will not affect the tourism industry.
This time of year, several out of town school groups visit America's Hometown, and some have called to ask if anything is open.
"Our goal is we put this out on our website. We have a link on the front page. We got a lot of calls in the last few days asking about the water. This way, people can click and see the water doesn't do anything, and maybe we can nip this in the bud," says Beau Hicks
Hicks tells KHQA one of the business owners in the downtown area came up with the slogan.
