DES MOINES, IOWA (AP) - (AP) -- Weather officials say the immediate threat of flooding in Des Moines appears to have passed.
Des Moines officials say falling river levels means Fleur Drive should reopen Monday morning. That's a major downtown street that leads to the airport.
The opening is days earlier than previously thought.
The Raccoon River was nearly five feet above flood stage Sunday, but slowly falling.
Des Moines Public Works Director Bill Stowe says river levels are dropping faster than expected.
National Weather Service meteorologist John Hinsberger says snow that fell over the weekend has already melted off into the Des Moines River basin and there isn't further rain in the forecast.
He says it looks like the right combination of factors for rivers to drop below flood stage.
