PITTSFIELD, ILL. -- The following is a press release from the Illinois State Police:
Illinois State Police (ISP) announced the results of a Roadside Safety Checks held during the late evening hours of March 12, and early morning hours of March 13 and the late evening hours of March 20 and early morning hours of March 21. The detail was conducted in Adams County by ISP District 20 officers.
Alcohol is a significant factor in over 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois. Safety checks are designed to remove alcohol-impaired drivers, however, when other violations are observed such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken. The following citations were issued at the safety check:
Registration offenses 6 0
Driver’s license offenses 4 8
Occupant restraint offenses 6 0
Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol 9 0
Other alcohol/drug arrests 28 0
