Harkin supports law
Part of the new Healthcare Reform law is out to tackle obesity in America.
Every restaurant chain with 20 or more restaurants must now post the amount of calories in everything on the menu.
Democratic Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa thinks that's a step in the right direction.
He also says restaurants have to have all nutritional information on hand if somebody wants it.
"A diabetic, for example, could come in and see the calories, but they may want to know how much sugar is in a product. They can ask for that and it must be presented to them or someone with high blood pressure has to watch their sodium intake. They might want to know how much sodium is in a product or a meal, " says Harkin.
Senator Tom Harkin says the new law also covers vending machines.
The amount of calories in every product inside the vending machine must now be posted on the machine itself.
