HANNIBAL, MO. -- The following is a news release from the Missouri Department of Transportation:

MoDOT and contactor Bross Construction will resurface five disconnected sections of both north and south bound lanes on US 61 between Eolia and Bowling Green beginning this week. The contractor will be setting up signs in preparation for the road work this week, with concrete pavement repairs to begin next week, weather permitting. Asphalt resurfacing work will follow later this summer.

The road will be down to one lane in the work zone with a 45 mph speed limit, and the contractor expects to work 10 hours days. The work begins just south of Route UU near Bowling Green and continues in disconnected sections to north of Route OO near Eolia.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map a week in advance or on the day it begins. Those traveling and the commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. Drivers are also invited to rate MoDOT work zones online at modot.org. MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled. Sign up online or call MoDOT's customer service center at 1-888-275-6636.
