City ready to file public nuisance charges
MONROE CITY, MO. -- The owner of a downtown Monroe City building could soon face a public nuisance charge.
The building was destroyed by fire last year
Greg Klement recently bought the former Wedge Restaurant building on South Main Street.
The city wants something done with the property that has sat untouched since fire destroyed it a year ago.
The Lake Gazette newspaper reports that Klement is waiting on a report from the state before he does any work on the building and that will make it impossible to meet the city's deadline.
The city has given him until May sixth to do something or face the public nuisance charge.
