QUINCY, ILL. -- Last fall, KHQA told you about a program at Dewey School in Quincy called the "Seven Habits."
The idea is to teach kids about good behaviors in a fun environment with songs and dancing.
Dewey held a "Seven Habits" assembly every morning last school year to get kids off to a good start for the day.
And the program is already seeing some incredible results.
In fact, 90 percent of students met or exceeded requirements on reading tests.
And all students passed state math tests.
"We saw a huge impact on our parental involvement too. It went up 90 percent. And the exciting thing about that is that research shows that's one of the biggest influences on student achievements, attendance, parental involvement," Quincy Schools Assistant Superintendent Christie Dickens said.
One of the programs founders visited with teachers at Washington School Friday to give them more ideas about how to expand the "Seven Habits" program into the classroom.
Dickens says that Washington and five other Quincy Schools are starting the program this year.
Dickens hopes that "Seven Habits" will eventually go district-wide.
