QUINCY, ILL. -- The 2009 Prospect League Champion Quincy Gems are seeking individuals and families to host the 2010 incoming Gems players.
Baseball has been a Quincy tradition since 1864, and that tradition is continuing with the 2010 Quincy Gems. The team's Prospect League Championship and the Quincy Gems are listed as the third-most attended tourism/event in Quincy, and fifth-most attended tourism/event in a four-county area. Being the second-most talked-about sporting event in the Tri-state area since 2009, along with the new teams added to the league (now 15 teams), is keeping the tradition alive and well.
All this would not be possible without the generous involvement of the community. One of the most important facets of the Quincy Gems organization is the host families that bring a little sense of family by providing a summer home for the players. They become an important part of the player's life and support system, which is a rewarding experience for all.
If you are interested in hosting a player or players, please contact the Quincy Gems for detailed information at 223-1000, dcomer@quincygems.com or aoakley@oakleylindsaycenter.com.
