The following is a press release from Hannibal-LaGrange College:
The Hannibal Children’s Choir, sponsored by Hannibal-La Grange College, will hold its annual spring concert on April 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Parker Theatre of the Roland Fine Arts Center on the campus of HLG.
The choir will be presenting a variety of music ranging from the classics, to fun music educational activities with traditional folk songs. There will be some choreography and songs accompanied by the students on the Orff instruments.
The Hannibal Children’s Choir travels throughout the school year performing at several community and civic events.
On April 27, the choir will perform for the residents of Pleasant View Home in Hannibal at 4:00 p.m., and on Friday, April 30, the Hannibal Children’s Choir will participate in the annual Hannibal Public Schools Fine Arts in Education Series school tour.
This is one of the yearly highlights for the choir as they will perform at all Hannibal public elementary schools.
The final concert of the year will be held at the Mark Twain Museum in downtown Hannibal on May 1, at 3:00 p.m.
As a special honor, the choir has been invited to sing as part of the Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street series: New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music.
The auditioned children’s choir is in their twenty-third year as an educational outreach for the community to enhance children's musical experience, supplementing school choral training by focusing on the preparation and performance of age-appropriate music literature while having fun through games, exercises, and performances.
The select choir consists of students from grades 3-6 from across the Hannibal school district and is directed by Linda St. Juliana, accompanied by Shannon Quinn, and assisted by the HLG student, Melissa Jansen.
