NEOSHO, MO. (AP) -- An eyewitness to Sunday's deadly church shooting in Neosho says the gunman apparently blamed some members of the Micronesian congregation for talking about him behind his back.
Forty-three-year-old Janice Arnold of Detroit says she was visiting friends from the Pacific Islander community and went with them to the worship service where the shooting took place.
She says the gunman came in and was speaking in a Micronesian language before opening fire. She says a girl told her he was angry at being ridiculed behind his back.
Prosecutors say the suspect deliberately targeted the congregation's elders. He killed three people, including the group's pastor, and wounded five others.
The man is expected Monday to be charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
