PIKE COUNTY, ILL. -- An 81 year old man is recovering after being rescued from a grain bin.
Around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, the man became trapped up to his neck inside the bin.
The man had difficulty breathing because of the pressure of the corn and the dusty atmosphere inside the bin.
Within minutes of the initial call, more than 40 volunteers and rescue personnel showed up to help.
Crews quickly cut holes in the bottom of the grain bin to let the corn drain out.
The man was removed via stretcher from the bottom of the bin about an hour later.
He was air lifted to the hospital, with minor injuries.
