HANNIBAL, MO. -- The following is a press release from Shumake for State Representative:
Lindell Shumake from Hannibal Missouri has announced that he will seek to replace Rachel Bringer as the next 6th District State Representative. "Lindell Shumake is an intelligent, hard working Missourian, he will be an excellent representative for the people of the 6th District, and I look forward to working with him in Jefferson City," said Majority Floor Leader, Steve Tilley.
Shumake graduated from Hannibal High School in 1968 and left to serve in the US Army including a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969. He graduated from Hannibal LaGrange College in 1974 and Quincy College (now Quincy University) in 1976. He worked for the Missouri Division of Family Services as a caseworker for 20 years. He worked for the Missouri Division of Family Services as a caseworker for 20 years. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1974 and has spent a good portion of his life doing the Lord's work. "He is a man of integrity, service and a good listener," his wife of 35 years, Lydia said. "Lindell has been on 19 mission trips to the Philippines and other Asian countries. Also, we went to China (9 years ago) to adopt our daughter, Johanna,, who turned 10 years old in December," she continued.
Currently, Lindell is running two small businesses (Kan-Man Metal Recycling and LS Tax Service) in the Hannibal area as well as working as a chaplain at Hannibal Regional Hospital. His primary focus will be job creation and cutting government spending. "We need to make sure that the hard-working citizens of Missouri have a job and the government doesn't leave the state bankrupt for our kids and grandkids," he said. "Both of my businesses operate debt free." Lindell continued, "The 6th District deserves a strong voice in Jefferson City for education for our children, our consitutional rights (including the 2nd amendment) and who is 100% pro-life."
