PALMYRA, MO. -- Part of President Obama's Tri-State tour took him to a farm in Northeast Missouri Wednesday, April 28th.
The Palmyra farm belongs to Lowell Schachtsiek and his family.
During the tour Lowell said he tried to stress to the president how much of what is grown in Northeast Missouri stays in the area.
Schachtsiek is a member of the Missouri Farmers Union which is one of the reasons his farm was chosen.
But its location near highway 36 was also a factor as well as the farm being very diverse.
It grows grain but also raises cattle and hogs.
Schachtsiek says the tour just reaffirmed his feelings for President Barack Obama.
"I considered him a friend before I even met him and after we met him, considered him a friend and it was probably no different than talking to you which might be strange to some people because of the honor bestowed as the leader of the free world and probably the most powerful person in the world," said Schachtsiek.
While we were at the Schachtsiek farm Thursday, April 29th we were greeted by the farms three legged dog Sprinkle, who also greeted the President Wednesday.
