QUINCY, ILL. -- The issue of whether Quincy school board president Bud Niekamp can continue to serve on that board will go on in court.

A judge ruled this afternoon that three citizens can file their complaint for what is known as quo warranto.

Former board member Carol Nichols and current members Bill Daniels and Glenn Bemis brought the lawsuit over whether Niekamp should have been able to serve on the school board after being re-elected to the Adams County Board.

Niekamp resigned from the county board after these questions came to light.

The judge acknowledged that there is a lot of public interest in this case, and that it's in the public's best interest to resolve it once and for all.
