SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- High school seniors headed for a career in agriculture may apply for a $2,000 state scholarship.
Applications for the Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship must be postmarked by May 14.
State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias (jeh-NOO'-lee-ehs) says eligible applicants will attend an Illinois-based school and plan to study for a career in agriculture or a related field.
They must have a minimum 2.75 grade-point average this school year and have been accepted to an accredited institution by the deadline.
Ten applicants will win $2,000 apiece.
Applicants must complete a form on the treasurer's Web site and include accompanying material.
