PALMYRA, MO. -- A Palmyra woman is picking up the pieces after a house fire Thursday morning.

Palmyra and Hannibal firefighters responded to the home of Mary Sue Harris on New Street in Palmyra around 11:30 in the morning.

They arrived to find heavy smoke coming from all sides of the home.

Firefighters had some difficulty locating the fire, which was in between the ceiling and walls of the home.

A water heater in the rear of the home apparently sparked the fire.

The owner wasn't home at the time of the fire, but her pet siberian husky was rescued safely.
