The following is a press release from Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri:
“Every day in 28 Missouri counties, Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri helps girls develop courage, confidence and character,” said Mary Ann Altergott, newly elected board chair for GSEM, the premier leadership development organization for girls.
Altergott will lead the GSEM board of directors, which provides strategic direction and stewardship, supporting leadership experiences and programs for more than 62,000 Girl Scouts throughout eastern Missouri. Altergott, a Savvis executive, is a lifelong Girl Scout and a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient. She has served on the boards of three other Girl Scout councils and has held a variety of Girl Scout volunteer positions, including troop leader, camp director and council trainer. Altergott joined the GSEM board of directors in 2006, chairing the board development committee for three years as well as co-chairing the council’s strategic planning efforts.
“Girl Scouts is a broad and diverse organization devoted to providing an exceptional leadership experience for girls,” Altergott said. “I appreciate the opportunity to partner with our 18,000 volunteers who make this happen. Our goal is to help each girl discover, connect and take action as she grows and finds the leader within herself.”
