QUINCY, ILL. -- People of all ages went spinning for a cause Saturday.
They turned out for the 2nd annual St. Jude Spin-A-Thon at the Quincy Family YMCA.
Co-Chair Angie Asmann said the event had more turnout this year than last.
About 75 riders participated in the event, which also included a kids' class.
Quincy's St. Jude Spin-A-Thon raised about $3500 last year, and Asmann expects to beat that amount in 20-10.
She also said she expects it to get bigger and better every year.
Asmann said, "Basically what we do is ride all day long, 50 minutes at a time, and people come in and donate money so they can spin. We have raffles, 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting St. Jude."
Organizers also are gearing up for the 6th annual Quincy St. Jude Run August 6th & 7th.
The run raises funds and awareness for kids who face catastrophic, life threatening disease. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a world renowned center for research, treatment, and support of kids, and their families and friends, who face those difficult life challenges.
