QUINCY, ILL. --

The following news release was sent from Mike Bruns, Director of Program Services for the Quincy Park District:

The Wavering Aquatic Center will open on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 12 p.m.  The delay of one week is due to the painting of the pool basin. Due to all the rain in the last month, the painting has not been able to get done. The painting is being finished today and needs 6-7 days to dry before water can be added.

The hours at Wavering will be Monday-Friday, 1-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 12-7 p.m.

Indian Mounds Pool will open, on schedule, on Saturday, May 29 at 11 a.m.  Indian Mounds Pool will be open Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m.  We encourage everyone to visit Indian Mounds Pool this weekend and next week.

If you have any other questions, please contact us at 223-7703.

Progress is being made at Wavering Aquatic center in Quincy but it will open up a week later this year.

We reported earlier in the month the pools slide was be vandalized.

The painting of the base was delayed because the moisture level has been to high to paint.

It takes five to seven days to dry completely before the pool can be filled.

Over the weekend the last coat of paint was applied and the slide was sanded and now just needs a smoothed out.

If not for all the rain we received in May the pool could have opened on time.

The total cost of the damages was more than 33 thousand dollars.

Indian Mounds pool will stay on schedule and open the Saturday at at eleven.

And don't forget you have until Friday to get your season pass at a discounted price.

The pass is 65 dollars but you can get it for 55 dollars until Friday May 28th.

The cost of admission only went up a quarter this year.

It will cost an adult $4.25 and a child $3.75 to get in dailyat both Indain Mounds and Wavering pool.
