Three sites discovered in Brown County

The Illinois EPA is in the process of cleaning up a illegal dump site in Brown County.
BROWN COUNTY, ILL. --
Things like furniture, lumber, plastic, scrap metal, bags of garbage and lots of tires were thrown into a ravine by people who didn't want to dispose of them properly.

This site, which is located deep in the woods at what is known as the Elkhorn township right of way,  is one of 3 in Brown County.

The other two are located on private property.

The good news for residents is that the environmental impact for the area is pretty low.

Another good thing , this 5 thousand dollar project doesn't cost taxpayers any money.

Landfill use fees cover the cost of disposing of the solid waste like furniture and scrap metal.

And fees collected when you properly dispose of  your tires cover the cost of disposing of these illegally dumped tires.
