QUINCY, ILL. -- Violence is breaking in the southern part of Jamaica.

Knowing it's a popular traveling destination we check with the Travel House in Quincy see if it's safe for people to travel there.

Mecki Kosin with the Travel House says if she could go tomorrow she would.

Kingston is where the violence is going on and that is not a tourist destination.

In fact its about 4 hours away from the tourist area, so it's like traveling from here to Chicago.

Kosin says if you are planning or already have trips planned, still plan on going.

Of course just like traveling to any foreign country you need to use common sense.

Make sure that you passport is with you at all time when you leave your room and keep it locked in the safe when you get back.
