ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Organizers of St. Louis' first ever Fashion Week say the city knows it's not Paris or Milan. And they think that's what should make it work.
Fashion shows and related events are being held through Saturday in St. Louis.
New York still remains the nation's fashion center, but many smaller cities are trying their own fashion weeks. They hope to celebrate creative work and provide an economic boost.
Designer Nick Verreos who appeared on the Project Runway television show planned to host a fashion show in St. Louis Thursday night.
The Los Angeles-based designer says the events are a great idea, because fashion doesn't just happen on the coasts.
St. Louis-based Alive magazine organized the fashion week.
