KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- A 48 year old man from Kirksville Missouri has died following an accident at the Thousand Hills State Park just west of Kirksville.
The Missouri Highway Patrol says Doug Goodwin was driving inside the park when he ran off a road, hit a sign, his car went airborne and he crashed into the lake.
A state park ranger was nearby and managed to pull Goodwin from the car before it sank.
The victim was pronounced dead at the Northeast Regional Medical Center about an hour after the accident.
The accident happened at about 3:30 pm on Saturday afternoon.
