SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- Some of the cuts Governor Rod Blagojevich is making to the state budget raise questions about political payback.
Blagojevich made more than $460 million worth of vetoes today to the spending plan lawmakers approved August 10th.
Some critics of the governor are seeing their budgets cut, while other politicians aren't.
Blagojevich spared his budget and those of Secretary of State Jesse White and Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias.
But Comptroller Dan Hynes and Attorney General Lisa Madigan received several cuts.
The Illinois Arts Council received significant cuts in its state grants. The council is chaired by Shirley Madigan, wife of House Speaker Michael Madigan who has bickered all year with the governor.
Chicago State University, a favorite of Blagojevich ally and Senate President Emil Jones, saw only a small cut along with other state universities.
