SPRINGFIELD, ILL. (AP) -- Illinois public health officials are hosting an emergency preparedness summit this week in Oak Brook.
The Department of Public Health and the Illinois Public Health Association are heading the conference Wednesday and Thursday.
It's called "From Preparedness to Recovery: Collaborating for Resiliency."
The summit is set up to provide an overview of federal, state and local emergency preparedness and response programs in Illinois.
Organizers say the program covers a variety of professional disciplines and will benefit authorities in the areas of public health, environmental health, nursing, communicable disease, laboratory, food protection, immunization and others.
Sessions cover preparedness, hospital response, epidemiology and surveillance, environmental health, volunteer development and include round-table discussions.
