Power restored to more than 1,500 people in Adams County

ADAMS, CO. -- Saturday, at approximately 1:11 p.m., Ameren reported a power outage in parts of Adams County, leaving more than 1,550 homes without power.

Ameren says an unknown source tripped the system.

Power resumed at 1:50 p.m. Ameren wants viewers to know of some important safety tips during a power outage:

- Check on the elderly.

- Use cold towels to keep cool.

- Switch off most lights and appliances to help prevent circuit overloading when your power is restored.

- Keep a battery-powered radio or TV and flashlights available

- Treat all downed or dangling wires as if they are energized electric lines.
