Knocked out air conditioning which has the family of residents concerned

QUINCY, ILL. -- We received a call Tuesday (6/22) morning from a concerned relative of a resident at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

It seems lightning struck Elmore Hall early Monday morning.

That created a power surge that took out the air conditioning in the building, leaving residents in the heat.

We made some phone calls to find out what was going to happen to them and here's what we found out.

Residents that have respiratory issues were moved to Kent Hall Monday to get out of the heat.

The rest of the residents were being moved today, we were told all of them would be out of the hall and into air conditioned areas by the end of business Tuesday.

No word yet on when the air conditioning will be fixed in Elmore.
