CHICAGO (AP) -- Nearly $800,000 in federal money is headed to three Illinois groups to help homeless veterans.

U.S. Sen. Roland Burris announced Wednesday that the money comes from the Department of Labor's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program.

It's part of more than $24 million in grant money awarded nationally to about 14,000 groups.

In Illinois, $300,000 is going to The Inner Voice Inc. in Chicago, about $299,000 is going to Traditional Living Services Inc. in Woodstock and $200,000 is going to Good Industries of Central Illinois in Peoria.

The program money is aimed at providing training, job search placement assistance and follow-up services to veterans.

Burris is member of the Senate's Veterans Affairs Committee.

Burris says the funding is "a chance to give back to those who sacrificed so much for us."
