QUINCY, ILL. -- Tuesday's Quincy City Council meeting had a lot of discussion of roadwork in the city.

Aldermen passed a resolution calling for approval of a $724-thousand dollar low bid by Diamond Construction for the 2010 motor fuel tax asphalt maintenance program.

The MFT asphalt maintenance project will resurface about 25 city blocks and will take 30 days to complete.

Other road projects in Quincy are are the stimulus package projects. Mayor John Spring outlined the eight roadways totaling about 4 miles which are being milled and resurfaced with stimulus dollars.

In other action the council voted to dispense with second and third readings of an ordinance granting a zoning variance to Salem Church for an electronic sign on its property.
