HANNIBAL, MO. -- With the many shops and tourist attractions in downtown Hannibal, sidewalks are more important than ever. And the city now has money to help improve them.

On Tuesday, July 6th, the Hannibal City Council unanimously voted to accept a $67,232.27 grant that will go towards sprucing up sidewalks in the downtown area.

Work will be done on sidewalks from North Street of Lyon Street on the east side of Main Street.

On the south side of Main the work will stop at Church street.

All of the businesses owners we talked to today were in favor of the work and said it's been a long time coming.

The city also received $118,000 for sidewalk work last summer.
