Flood warnings in Tri-States

You've probably noticed that some area rivers and streams are still running high, even though we haven't had rain for a few days.

The National Weather Service still has flood warnings issued for the Mississippi River from Hannibal to Clarksville.

But all of those areas should drop below flood stage by Monday.

The Illinois River at Beardstown also has a flood warning.

The water is still rising slightly there, but it should crest at less than a foot above flood stage Sunday morning, and drop below flood stage by Wednesday afternoon.

KHQA made some calls to these areas, and no one reported any major problems because of the high water.

In case you do run across some high water over the road in low-lying areas, remember you should never drive through it.

And if you plan to spend part of your Labor Day weekend on your boat, remember that high water tends to contain more debris, so keep an eye out and keep your life jacket on.
