QUINCY, ILL. -- There won't be a sales tax holiday from Quincy's home rule sales tax this year.

That's the report to the council's finance committee from city controller Ann Scott.

The committee looked at the possibility of suspending the city's sales tax at the same time as the state held its first sales tax holiday for back-to-school items next month.

In other action, the council approved a parade by TNT and the Traeder family to celebrate 50 years of business. It will take place September 18th.
