HARRISBURG, ILL. (AP) -- Prosecutors allege a man who is a southern Illinois school board president sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl while he was working as sheriff's deputy.
Saline County prosecutors charged Todd Fort,43, of Harrisburg on Tuesday with four counts each of criminal sexual assault and official misconduct.
Fort remained jailed Wednesday on $250,000 bond in Jackson County.
Prosecutors allege Fort engaged in sex acts with the teenager between May 1 and July 19.
Fort is the head of the Harrisburg school board and also works as a sheriff's deputy.
Calls to Fort's home Wednesday went unanswered.
It was not immediately clear whether he has an attorney.
During a regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday night, the board's vice president led the meeting in Fort's absence.
