EAST ST. LOUIS, ILL. (AP) -- A Nov. 5 sentencing hearing is scheduled for a southwestern Illinois man who's pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges tied to an online scam involving more than $100,000 worth of St. Louis Cardinals tickets.
Thirty-four-year-old Timothy Kebel of O'Fallon pleaded guilty Thursday in East St. Louis to mail and wire fraud charges.
Authorities say Kebel agreed to buy postseason tickets on eBay during the Cardinals 2006 World Series championship drive.
But after he won an auction for seats, Kebel protested to his credit card company that he didn't get the merchandise and got the money he spent refunded to his account.
Kebel then resold the tickets through eBay auctions.
He faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.
