PITTSFIELD, ILL. -- Last week (7/16) we told you there was a possibility of a consolidated health care facility in Pike County, Illinois.

Tuesday of this week, the Pittsfield City Council accepted the proposal from the Illini Community Health Care Foundation.

The group will purchase the property that used to house Brown Shoe Factory for that consolidated facility.

There is a stipulation in the contract that some sort of construction must happen by July 1st of 2011.

"We are poised to move ahead aggressively. We have defined a limited time from which we are required to do that work and get moving on some construction. It has been our intention that we could begin before the end of the year," said I.C.H.C.F. Ex. Dir. Patricia McIntosh.

The city council and the Illini Community Health Care Foundation is still sifting through some of the wording on the contract, and the sale of the property has yet to be finalized.

But the foundation is anxious to move forward with the project.
